My Armagh and Simply Fruit launch healthy eating initiative in St. Malachy's Primary School

1st Mar 2011
Simply Fruit and Armagh G.A.A. have teamed up to create a healthy eating initiative in schools, to help tackle childhood obesity and to encourage a healthier lifestyle from an early age.

Two lucky children from St. Malachy's were involved in the production of the promotional DVD highlighting the benefits of healthy eating and in particular the value of eating fruit. This promotional DVD has received local and national media coverage, is currently been presented to primary schools throughout Armagh and is displayed on the My Armagh web-site.

The need to educate our children on the benefits of healthy eating is now more important than ever, and given that children's eating habits are formed at an early age, schools can obviously play a vital role by providing our pupils with healthy alternatives to high sugar, high fat confectionery products. Steven Mc Donnell (Armagh Captain) told the children at St. Malachy's that Simply Fruit provides them with fresh-cut fruit to help maintain a healthy body. St. Malachy's Primary School would like to thank Steven Mc Donnell, Paul Kelly (My Armagh chairman) and Colm Gallagher (Buisness Development Manger at Simply Fruit) for visiting St. Malachy's and choosing our school to create and launch this new and exciting initiative.
