St. Malachy's Primary School benefit from ACE Team Occupational Therapy Pilot scheme   Over the past few weeks primary one children and staff from St. Malachy's have participating in the Action for Children in Education (ACE) Occupational Therapy Pilot Scheme. The aim of the pilot is to empower children and their families to adapt to the challenges of everyday school life. The programme provides knowledge and skills to enable staff to identify and meet the OT needs of children. The scheme also promotes multi-professional and multi-agency training, help teachers identify underachievers and enable each child to reach their education potential. The programme consists of four 30 minute whole class ‘Functional Fun' sessions and four 30 minutes individual ‘Super Skill' sessions. St. Malachy's is the only local skill involved in this pilot and after a short time are reaping the rewards as children's fine and gross motor skills are developing rapidly.
