St Malachy's Primary School are keeping their finger on the pulse of new techonlogy
St. Malachy's Primary School has made a major investment in the latest technology, as they purchased 30 iPads 2. This has ensured that the school is now fully equipped with a portable iPad suite, equipped with 2 docking and syncing stations.
The development of IT skills are essential in today's technological era and are a central theme in the current curriculum. These new provisions along with access to virtual learning sites such as Learning N.I. ensure the children of St. Malachy's regularly explore, express views , exhibit and evaluate work relating to ICT manners, further equipping the children for the technological world.
High levels of student motivation, engagement and learning are evident in the iPad classrooms. The apps teach and reinforce fundamental literacy and numeracy concepts which are engaging, interactive and provide children with immediate feedback. Furthermore, teachers can customise apps to match the instructional needs of each child, so students are able to learn successfully at their own level and pace.
This new investment in IT along with the high level of staff training and revamped school intranet and internet site (www.stmalachysprimary.org ) enables St. Malachy's to provide the highest standard of ICT provision across the board.
The website provides parents with finger –tip access to daily activities, events and examples of children at work. Other aspects of the site include a school calendar, outlining holidays and important dates, e-mailing facilities for contacting the school and recent school news that is regularly updated.
The ‘Our Photo' page of the website is a collection of photos from this school year and previous school year. So, why not log on to www.stmalachysprimary.org and check it out for yourself.
