A taste of life in Bulgaria
As part of the new curriculum area, PDMU, primary 4 – 7 children at St. Malachy’s primary school were given the opportunity to learn about daily life, culture and traditions in Bulgaria from the school’s assistant cook Valentina Stefanova.and her husband Kalin. As an introduction to the event a group of primary 7 children gave a PowerPoint presentation on daily life, culture, sport and tradition in Ireland and Armagh. Valentina and Kalin also gave a digital – audio presentation and spoke about daily life and traditions in Bulgaria. The children were given time to handle a range of Bulgarian artefacts, compare life in Ireland, ask questions, count to ten in Bulgarian and taste traditional dishes and chocolate. One lucky child (Jack Kennedy) even had the opportunity to model the Bulgarian traditional costume. Mrs Mc Kenna (Acting Principal) the whole staff and all the children would like to thank Valentina and Kalin for a most enjoyable and interesting learning experience.
