St. Malachy?s celebrate GAA 125 years Schools Day
On Friday 24th April children from St. Malachy’s Primary School Armagh participated in a range of activities celebrating 125 years of the G.A.A. Teachers used a range of G.A.A. activities from the ‘Step ahead’ resource pack, which past pupils of St. Malachy’s help produce.
Children had a G.A.A jersey day, learnt about the art of making hurleys, investigated the development of Croke Park, played a range of gaelic games and designed new Armagh jerseys.
Primary seven children also took part in the G.A.A. Oral History Project, whereby they interviewed Mr Phil Mc Ginn local historian and author of the recent and highly successful book ‘12O years of the Armagh Harps Club’. Mr Mc Ginn proved to be very knowledgeable about the development of the G.A.A. in Armagh and enlightened the children to some stories from the past.
The staff and pupils of St. Malachy’s would like to thank Mr Mc Ginn for a very interesting and enjoyable learning experience.
