In January 2016 St. Malachy's became one of the first schools in Northern Ireland to receive the Digital School of Distinction Award.

The prestigious Award which only launched in Northern Ireland in November 2015 is a flagship programme which aims to promote, recognise and encourage excellence in the use of technology in primary schools.

The initiative aims to recognise best in class practices and build on the progress already made, by providing a pathway and resources for schools who are seeking to do more with technology. The programme also highlights those who achieve excellence and supports the efforts of schools and teachers in making the best use of technology in the learning environment.
